Thankful Recipe Craft & Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

The students were so excited to take home their Thanksgiving crafts and I am hoping that they even were able to make the recipe for you over their break. This is something I make each year with my students, and every year I have a past student who comes by to tell me that they got theirs out during Thanksgiving to use again. I am hoping you and your family will start that tradition as well.

Also, we enjoyed a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving treat last Tuesday afternoon. We talked about the very first Thanksgiving and what it was like for the Pilgrims and Indians. To demonstrate being thankful for what we receive we practiced by only receiving the exact food given in the Charlie Brown Holiday Thanksgiving Movie. I was very proud of how the students took being thankful so seriously. :)

Camp Out w/ a Good Book Day!

We did many activities last Monday involving reading and our partnership school in Arizona. I am proud to say that my class alone read over 2,000 pages in 1 day. We set out to read the exact mileage to Salt River Elementary School in Arizona where our pen pals are located. One page in a book equaled one mile on the road. ;) We broke it up throughout the day and students even kept a travel log to keep track of all of their mileage to and from Arizona. We enjoyed some trail mix snack while recording our mileage along the way. We read with our flashlights for a little while and it was nice to be camping without the worry of weather conditions and bugs. LOL! :) In the afternoon, we did some activities with Math using measurement and a map of the United States to show a true map scale. For our S'mores activity we reviewed our past unit on Solids, Liquids and Gases. Students had to determine how the properties of the matter in the marshmellow and chocolate would change once heat was added. Of course, we did enjoy eating them too. :) It was a great day to celebrate reading!

Thankful Writings

I hope you all enjoyed reading them. They worked very hard on them. Here is our photostory as promised. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope you enjoy your craft that we made for you! I will post pics after Thanksgiving so I don't spoil the surprise. :) The students should be making their grocery list soon to give to you in order to have what they need. I wish you all a very blessed and safe Thanksgiving break!

Sharing our Rocks!

I always love seeing the excitement with my students build as we begin and discuss our rock unit. Each day students will bring in collections they have had over the years or a special rock or two given to them by someone. It is so sweet watching them share their rocks and discovering what type of rock they have in their collection. Please know that we have the "ROCK MAN" coming in the spring for a field trip (we actually stay at school though)where students will be allowed to sift and find rocks of their very own to keep. We usually wait until warmer weather due to sifting through the cold water outside. Please feel free to continue to send in rocks with your child to share. ;)

WE DID IT!!!!

We finally reached our 1,000 Box Tops goal!!! The students were rewarded with a pizza and soda pop party on Thursday. I can't thank them and you all their parents for your dedicated support and help with this project. Thank you to Mrs. Siderman and Grammy for picking up pizzas and helping with this event. Please continue to support our school by sending in any box tops. Thanks again!! :)
