So, which came first? The chicken or the egg? We did a lesson last week to show you whether it's plants or animals that we all are apart of a cycle of life. Students had to identify the stages in a butterfly's life cycle and create a complete model. They had to demonstrate the correct order of the life cycle.

St. Patty's Day Fun!
We enjoyed making a rainbows with pots of gold snacks and drinking shamrock shakes on Friday. We watched an educational video about the history of St. Patrick's Day and learned that a couple of our own classmates like Caroline and Michaela have Irish family backgrounds. How cool is that! :)
A little treat from me to the kids to let them know how much I love being their teacher, :)
Such a sweet face ready for all her goodies :)
Sprinkles were the magic ingredient of course!
What a perfect rainbow Liam!
Yummy - we will definitely want seconds.
Great Job Valerie!
So thankful Kenzey's Grandaddy could join us to celebrate. :)

"Hard Tack" Crackers Surprise
We had such a treat last week when Dylan brought in some snacks from the past! We've been learning about the Civil War and one of the snacks the soldiers ate was "Hard Tack" crackers because they wouldn't spoil. The kids got to experience a true taste of history on Friday when we sampled some in class together. I think it was another reminder for us to appreciate what food we have these days. :)

Popsicles for Box Tops
Congrats to our class again for reaching another milestone in this race. We've reached 600 Box Tops! We enjoyed some popsicles today in class. Keep clipping and sending them in. We are very close to our next goal of reaching our 900 goal and receiving a popcorn party. :)
Genres w/ Scholastic Book Orders :)
To help reinforce learning our genres, we had a blast cutting out different books and sorting them into the right genre categories. I was super impressed with how well my students have learned their genres. Hopefully this fun activity will stay with them and allow them to apply what they've learned in their reading.
Genre Review
We've been using genres all year long and we reinforce it each day using our reading logs. Students had a great time reviewing for their tests last week. Please continue to reinforce these genres at home with them any chance you get. :)
