Butterfly Camouflauge Activity

Students looked around the classroom and had to think of a good place to 'camouflage' their butterfly.  They chose a color and/or pattern carefully, then write their name on the back.  While they were out of the room, Mrs. P taped their butterfly to its location.  Once they returned we all took turns pointing out where each of them were located.  Some were very well done and it took a while to figure out. :)

Symmetrical Names

The students have been learning to write their names in cursive.  What better way to practice learning about symmetry than to write our names in cursive and create creatures with symmetrical shapes formed. :)

Happy Valentine's Day

We had a wonderful celebration last Thursday for Valentine's Day.  I know most teachers cringe over Valentine's Day but I just LOVE it.  It's always crazy but it's a wonderful day to show each other how much we really love and care about one another.  First I handed my treat to the students (another pinterest special).

I always love watching the students pass out their special Valentine's to each other.  It brings back such wonderful memories of being a child myself and the anticipation of giving and receiving my own Valentine's cards.

Hope you had an amazing Valentine's day with your loved ones and enjoyed some extra time off together. :)  Thank you for my sweet Valentine's Day gifts and chocolate as well.

Multiplication Wizards

Congratulations to our class who has passed all their facts 0-12! Way to go everyone.  Remember though we have to keep practicing them so we don't lose what we've learned.  In the meantime, enjoy looking at our pictures from our ice-cream sundae celebration earlier today.

My Favorite Sweets Expository Writing

My favorite sweets decided to write about their favorite sweets! Students chose their 3 favorite sweets and explained why they were the best sweets of all.  Each year I love doing this hallway display.  I get to show off their sweet little faces on lollipops along with their exceptional writing behind Hershey kisses.  I am super impressed with how well my students have progressed with their writing. :)

Bubble Blowing Blast!

As you all know I love to do many writing activities with my students.  I want them to become confident authors who take every chance they get creative with their writing.  I want students to like LOVE writing and not cringe when they hear it's time to write.  Now, my students know this about me but you may not.  I can not stand gum...no seriously...I am not joking.  I am not being over dramatic either.  For some reason it makes me nauseous - even the smell.   I think Oprah Winfrey and me are like the only people out there like this. LOL! So for me to do this activity was HUGE!

First we took the gum out of the wrapper and got busy chewing!  It didn't take long for the bubble blowing to begin. :)

Look at all these great bubble blowers!

WOW Emily! I think that's the biggest one yet!

Awe! We can even make baby bubbles.

Such a fun and exciting way to begin this writing activity.  We made sure to be very specific with the directions and we THEY enjoyed practicing the process of blowing a bubble. Personally, I am very proud of myself too for getting through this without gagging. :P
