Hardly Worth Eating!

Thanks to Keller's mom for making us some actual "hardtack" this week. We all sampled a taste of this hard cracker, but most of us had a hard time chewing it up. ;) In Chapter 8 of our SS, we learned that many soldiers ate hardtack during the Civil War. It was a very hard cracker that would not spoil, and when I say hard, I mean hard! It took us a while to chew it up and swallow down, but we really appreciate Mrs. Anneaux helping to bring this piece of history to life by making some for our class. :)

As a way to celebrate SC Day on March 18th, I allowed the students to design their own palmetto tree based upon their likes and interests. ;) I am very proud of them all!
