Round Robin Writing

Last week we tried a new technique during writing time called, "Round Robin."  Students were put into groups of 4 or 5 and each started their own story.
After 3 minutes of writing, they would rotate their writing to the next person who would add to their story.
After another 3 minutes, they would rotate again continuing this until their original story was back in front of them.  Then, they would write a conclusion to their story.

They quickly caught on and did a wonderful job.  You could hear a pin drop in the room because they were so silent and enjoyed this writing technique immensely.  We will be starting reflective narratives this week and Miss Wilson will be showing them more strategies to help prepare them for their upcoming district writing prompt next week.

Just so you know, students will only be given 30 minutes to write for their upcoming prompt.  This district writing prompt will help guide our instruction to continue preparing your child for upcoming A.C.T. test in April.  We want students to take this test seriously but NOT be stressed.  Our goal is to practice with more and more time restraints in hopes of helping students overcome any and ALL test anxiety. :)
