Fun with Symmetry

As a way to apply what we learned about symmetry we used our cursive handwriting background knowledge. ;p
First we folded our papers in half and wrote our first names in cursive.
Then we took the piece of paper and used natural light to help us see our writing through the paper to trace onto the other side in order for our name to be symmetrical.

Once we had our symmetrical shape, the students then created their own picture and colored them.

We had all kinds of different pictures from animals to alien creatures.
We had some really original examples!

Super proud of all of them! :)  Be on the lookout for your child to be writing his/her name is cursive now. :)
