Field Day Fun!

So excited that the weather cooperated with us Friday and we had such a lovely Field Day.  We had loads of fun and didn't have to use too many band-aids. :)  I have such a great group of kids and watching them play together was extra sweet for me.  I tried to join in where I could but I am quickly learning that I am starting to get old - LOL! 

 What an awesome day!!!

Solar Oven Fun!

You will be happy to know that we put all those shoe boxes to good use today! We made solar ovens and then used them to cook some mini pizzas.  We reviewed our heat and matter units.  

 First we prepared all the mini pizzas.

 Then we prepared the solar ovens outside.

 Let the cooking begin!

 We discussed how the aluminum foil became a conductor by using the sun's energy.
                                      
 It didn't take long for things to "heat" up. :)

 Time for us to taste our creations!

So thankful our solar ovens were such a success!

Teacher for a Day!

I am super proud of all the students who took the time to create and teach an extra credit lesson to our class.  They each did a great job and the students enjoyed each of their lessons. 

PAWS Cafe Winners

Congratulations to Michaela and Emily who were our 4th nine weeks PAWS Cafe winners.  Both girls always do a great job exhibiting being caring, responsible, and trustworthy members of our school. :)

Surprise visit from an old pal!

 I surprised the kids on Tuesday by having Dr. B come back for a visit.  He came and shared the read aloud, One Green Apple with us.  He shared with us about his new job at the state department, and how he travels all over the world accrediting schools.

 We also got to eat some yummy green apples.

 This children's book is a wonderful book to teach about other cultures.

 Dylan and Alexis were great sports with trying on different wardrobes worn in other cultures.

 Finally we ended our visit by singing Dr. B's beloved "Bottle Pop" song.

 It's always a treat to see and catch up with our friend, Dr. B!!!

Career Vehicle Day

 

 So thankful we got to visit with Faith's mom and the Brace's Place!

 We were also fortunate to be able to visit with Hunter's dad. :)

 Emily is ready to go!

We learned about so many great careers and hopefully inspired our students to pursue their education so they can become whatever they want to be when they grow up. :)
